Research has provided evidence that lack of proper joint motion in the spine, or extremities, may result in pain and dysfunction. One of the tools we use to address this is spinal manipulation; otherwise known as an adjustment. We utilize techniques from the Motion Palpation Institute; a hands-on, evidence-based joint manipulation assessment and technique, in order to improve joint function. We also use the standard Palmer Package. Our variety of chiropractic services are well rounded, serving Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, and Des Moines, Iowa.

We use trigger point dry needling to release or inhibit trigger points to relieve pain or improve range of motion. Preliminary research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, and normalizes dysfunctions of the motor end plates, the sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to muscles. This can help speed up the patient's return to active rehabilitation.
This treatment allows physicians and sports medicine practitioners to improve mobility between the skin, fascia, and muscles with use of a metal instrument. IASTM is performed to improve fascial glide, improve range of motion and decrease pain, while promoting a controlled inflammatory response to a given area, and increasing blood flow to promote tissue repair. Our approach and chiropractic services allow us to better serve the Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, and Des Moines Communities.
This treatment is used to address muscle tension caused by tissue overload, joint dysfunction, or under-use often caused by prolonged postural positions. MRT often results in a short term increase in range of motion and decreased pain, which opens the window of opportunity to improve function and movement. Our approach and chiropractic services allow us to better serve the Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, and Des Moines Communities.
Cupping therapy is a form of treatment that we use in the office to change the way our body sees pain and to give our body a better sense of positioning in space (proprioception). This is done through decompression of tissue using a vacuum effect with the cups. This will lift the skin away from the fascia and underlying tissue while bringing blood and nutrients to the dysfunctional tissue, often leaving a circular bruise (ex. Michael Phelps, 2016 Olympics), which may result in a decrease in pain! Our approach and chiropractic services allow us to better serve the Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, and Des Moines Communities.
Being trained in the McKenzie Method, we utilize end range loading as a self-care assessment and approach that is used to find a directional preference, through repetitive movement in your spine or extremities that alleviates pain. This is especially useful in allowing you to actively participate in the management of your condition, and to take control of your current pain situation. Our approach and chiropractic services allow us to better serve the Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, and Des Moines Communities.
